End of Year Message from Tim Wakefield,
Chair, Friends of Dr Gray's Committee
We are extremely grateful to everyone who has donated or contributed in any way over the year, and to all those who continue to support us, and are delighted to have raised such a significant sum in just one year. We are in advanced discussions with specialist contractors and NHS Grampian, and are optimistic that the refurbishment work on the clock will be able to start in late Spring 2020. In the meantime our fundraising efforts will continue, and hopefully deliver a lasting legacy for patients, staff and the wider community.
Friends of Dr Gray's was formed in 2018 by current and former members of staff and other interested individuals as a non-profit Association.
Its primary aim is to improve and enrich both the experience of patients and staff and the hospital environment, particularly the original building, and encourage the engagement of the wider community with the Hospital.
In pursuit of these objectives, it will organise and encourage fundraising and other activities. In 2019, the main focus will be events to celebrate Dr Gray's 200th anniversary, and raising funds towards the restoration of the iconic clock.
Membership is free, and open to all current and future staff as well as those with a connection to or interest in Dr Gray's.
Friends of Dr Gray's is run by a Management Committee in accordance with the Constitution, which was initially adopted in September 2018.
